Ernie Ball titanium coated guitar strings now available

Ernie BAll Titanium Guitar Strings

Ernie Ball's new Titanium Reinforced coated Electric Strings are now available in all your favorite Ernie Ball Slinky gauges. Titanium guitar strings combine the latest technological advances in string manufacturing; all wound strings are treated with a micro-thin layer of an exclusive enamel that prevents decay and corrosion up to 5 times more than uncoated sets.

In addition to treating the wound strings, Ernie Ball has taken it a step further by reinforcing the plain strings with a patented winding of titanium wire. Titanium's inherent strength prevents string breakage, string slippage, and is proven to keep your strings in tune better than conventional plain strings. Ernie Ball Coated Slinkys maintain the feel and sound of uncoated sets, combining the added protection with the vibrant tone Ernie Ball customers have relied on for over 5 decades. Ernie Ball Titanium Reinforced Strings are a perfect match for those who experience prevalent string breakage.

Ever since Ernie Ball sold his first set of "Slinky" custom gauge electric guitar strings in 1958, they have been firm favorite with guitarists of all styles. The Slinky range has grown and developed over the years, with ever-more gauge mixes, including names such as "Beefy Slinky", "Power Slinky" and, bizarrely, "Not Even Slinky" and Stainless Steel variants as an alternative to the regular Nickel strings. To extend the guitarists choice even further, Ernie has now introduced coated strings for the first time.

Many guitarists dislike the feel of coated strings (Elixir being the most common), describing them as plasticky or waxy... so what's different about the Ernie Ball coated strings, if anything? The difference is, they don't feel like coated strings! They don’t have that ultra slippery feeling and they don’t sound dull, like some of the other coated strings that I have tried. As most of you know, you really have to let strings break in a bit before they feel and sound right. So what I usually do is change my strings before I go to bed and that way they can stretch out while I’m catching some zzz’s. Then in the morning I am good to go with a fresh set of strings. To me the Ernie Ball strings needed a little time to stretch out as well.

The plain high strings sound bright but not harsh, middle strings have good balanced tone and and the bass strings have a full, warm sound. Tension is consistant across the set and they have a balanced feel.

Of course the best think about coated strings is that they maintain their 'new' sound for longer. And these Ernie Ball Coated Slinkies are no exception... a month of playing and they still sound like new!
